In addition two members of the Briggs management team have appointments at the University as Industrial Fellows and a number of Briggs personnel provide industrial lecture support. Briggs was also awarded a contract by SAB Miller to build their Research and Development Brewery on the Sutton Bonington campus and a further contract by the University to build a smaller, highly instrumented, pilot brewing plant.

Briggs also has long standing links with Campden BRI where the company has provided a 200 litre vacuum cook/cool process skid (on a permanent loan basis) and high flow homogeniser at the Campden site. This vessel is particularly well characterised as a result of a Briggs sponsored PhD research project at the University of Birmingham, which researched the use of time and temperature integrators (TTIs). Briggs is also a collaborator with Campden BRI and others in on-going research at Campden, in efficient use of food waste. At their Surrey site, Briggs designed and built the long established research brewery complete with keg racking equipment.

Briggs of Burton has another long standing relationship with the International Centre for Brewing and Distilling (ICBD) at Edinburgh's Heriot-Watt University and designed and built their very well established research brewery, cited in a large number of research papers.

Briggs is currently developing new ties with RIT in Rochester, NY which is close to Briggs long standing US office. Co-op programs are now being offered to bring chemical engineers from the RIT program to work with Briggs central Process Engineering Team in the UK.

Briggs is also a long standing and committed supporter of the Institute of Brewing and Distilling's professional development and accreditation program as well as with IMEchE, IChemE, IET for engineering skills accreditation and development.
